Tactile Wooden Desk Accessories & Organizers that work as beautifully as they look

15 Tactile Wooden Desk Accessories That Make Your Desk Setup Fun Again

Creating a new desk setup is always exciting, at least if you're like me, and start to visualise how much more productive and inspired I'll feel when sitting at my new desk setup.

The problem is that most things for your desk - including organisers and accessories - are pretty lifeless and cold in many ways. Often they're made of cheap materials like plastic or sterile feeling aluminum and steel.

We scoured the web so you don't have to - or at least to give you a head start - cherrypicking the most unique wooden tactile desk accessories and organisers. All with the aim to help you add a bit more life to your desk setup, stay organised and enjoy the time you spend at your desk just a little bit more. 😊

Here are the criteria we had when curating everything in this list:

  • Must be made of solid wood.
  • Must be a functional and aesthetic addition.
  • Designed for desks, home offices, and creative spaces.
  • Focus on organisation, task management, and decluttering.
  • Minimal timeless look.
  • Tactile and interactive.

1. Focus Drawers

Having some small storage within reach is incredibly useful at a desk, and it's even better when it's out of sight to minimise distractions and clutter. These hidden Focus Drawers are made of black walnut wood and attach to the underside of your desk, table or any horizontal surface. They also make great places to hide your phone out of sight, if you find it hard to focus on your work.

2. Modular Stationery Organisers

There's something special about anything modular - or magnetic, for that matter (more on that below). There are a range of modular desk organisers out there, and of course all the best ones are made of wood..! Here are some of the best ones could find, all (or mostly) made of solid wood.

3. Analogue Silent Desk Clocks

Nothing is quite as distracting as the incessant ticking of a clock... it can feel like the day is literally ticking away and all that time you're not able to focus on the task at hand.

Of course you have a clock on your various devices, but if you don't want to exit out of a window or risk doom scrolling just to check the time, an analogue clock can be a beautiful addition to your work setup. This clock does away with the seconds hand altogether, and thanks to the silent Quartz mechanism, doesn't make a sound.

4. Wooden EDC Caddy

If you absolutely must see your phone at all times while you're working, or maybe you like to watch something in the background, then an EDC (Every Day Carry) caddy like this is a must for your workstation. Coming in a range of shapes and sizes, you can organise and charge your phone, headphones, stationery all in a convenient portable caddy.

5. Magnetic Desk Dock / Wireless Chargers

You remember how everything in this list for your desk is made of wood? Well, you might not have thought you could find a wooden magnetic wireless charging dock for your desk - but you can!

These are great if you really want a wireless charger but don't want to add yet another techy device to your desk setup. If you encase the tech in some hardwood like these wireless chargers below, suddenly it becomes a feature rather than simply another charger, or eyesore on your desk.

6. Pegboards and Wall Storage

This category is something that always gets the kid inside of me excited. When you look on platforms like Pinterest, very often the best desk setups all have a pegboard... Just saying.

What's best about wall storage of any kind, is that it makes use of an area (the wall)  that you probably weren't going to use, besides maybe hanging some artwork, and adds extra storage too!

Modular storage systems like pegboards are also great for areas that change over time like home offices, because they can adapt to the tasks of the week.

7. Slide-Out Keyboard Trays

These are similar to the Focus drawers from the beginning, but a much larger version, and not really designed with focusing specifically in mind, but rather to extend your desk surface area. If space is tight, or you just like the idea of a sliding tray under your work surface, then there are a surprising amount of slide out systems you can retrofit to your desk.

8. Simple Penholders and Trays

For some people, too many features and frills can just be an obstruction, causing them to not even want to use the object at all. Desk accessories can definitely fall victim to this. Many desk organisers can be too specific or too modular, meaning you end up just chucking your things into whichever compartment is the biggest.

If this is you, then a cup-style pen holder or simple valet tray like these acacia wood ones might be all that you need to store your pens and other desk bits.

9. Keyboard and Mouse Trays

This one is a little more specific, but If you have the Apple Magic Keyboard and Trackpad, then this wooden keyboard and mouse tray is a nice way to keep them both together as one unit, and ultimately save some space on your desk. The wooden tones look especially nice against the white keyboard and trackpads and also complement the Space Grey models nicely.

10. Magnetic Stacking Blocks

Sometimes you just need what the kids today call a 'brain break' - in those moments when you feel like your brain will actually break.

Fidgets, simple puzzles and tactile desk toys can be great stress relievers or creative catalysts to get you inspiration flowing. There are SO many fidgets and desk toys out there, but these stackable magnetic wooden blocks also make a nice ornament when you're not fidgeting with them.

11. Desk Organiser with Built-In Planter

A little bit of nature goes a long way. Right now I have a thyme plant sitting on my desk at home cos it's near the brightest window in the room. Smells delicious, adds a nice freshness to the air, and to the scenery of my desk.

In all seriousness (I do), and there are countless studies showing how beneficial just having a view of nature can be. Adding a small plant to your desk (even a faux one) will help to boost your productivity and mood.

12. Hang-On-The-Desk Storage

These little wooden desk storage buckets are another nice simple solution with no frills. Need a bucket to store your things in? Need to be able to move it around where and when you want to? Want it to look and feel incredible? This checks all three boxes, check it out here

13. Portable Desktop Drawers

These Domain Drawers are built like full-sized dresser drawers but are 35 x 25 cm - covering an area about the footprint size of a large laptop. They make great filing cabinets or maker drawers for craft supplies, documents, tech, stationery, EDC and whatever else you have going on at your desk.

What's nice about these is that they fit in as a piece of furniture rather than just another desk accessory, and can be used for extra storage in any room at home.

14. Adjustable Wooden Desk Lamp

Lighting is so important, so we couldn't leave it off this list. Check this out, if you have bad lighting at your desk (too much, too little, or the wrong type - Eg. highly fluorescent lights), it will make it much harder to work, and you may even get tired faster or even suffer headaches from bright lights.

Get yourself a proper lamp and you will never look back. They tend to last for pretty much as long as you treat them well. Try to pick one that lets you adjust the lighting levels (for different times of day) - and bonus points if you can adjust the lighting temperature/spectrum (Kelvin) too!

15. Task Planners & Micro Workbenches

If you struggle to stay on task or maintain motivation while you're working through your daily grind, then a to-do list will probably be really beneficial - at least I find it very handy for organising my plan for the day and feeling the sweet satisfaction of checking things off the list. Here are some beautiful, functional and of course tactile wooden desk accessories you will love.
